When Burning Crusade Classic launches later this year, every player will decide if they want to continue onto The Burning Crusade era or stay in the Classic era, where the level cap is All the current WoW Classic servers will continue onto the Burning Crusade, while players who want to stay with Classic will be moved over to a new set of vanilla servers where they can continue playing WoW Classic.
Blizzard has also confirmed that, for a fee, you can clone a character so you can play it both on WoW Classic and Burning Crusade Classic servers. It'll essentially just be a carbon copy of your original character. The expansion will be broken into phases that loosely resemble the live updates that Burning Crusade originally received in Every few months, Blizzard will roll out a new phase and introduce new raids, dungeons, and features to simulate what it was like to play back in the day.

So while it'll largely be the Burning Crusade you remember from , some things will be different.
Good news: Blizzard is selling a one-time character level boost. This will let filthy casuals like me jump into the Dark Portal without having to first grind up a level 60 character in WoW Classic.
There are some restrictions, though. The boost isn't intended as a way to skip the level grind but rather to help players catch up to their friends or tourists who just want a quick nostalgia fix. Before Classic launched, the community was talking about the potential for WoW Classic to get new content post patch 1.
However, if the dev team is focusing on TBC and Wrath, then it is unlikely this will be the content plan. With Blizzcon set for February , there's every chance we'll hear more at the online-only event. Speaking back in March when Blizzard sent the TBC poll out, he mentioned they need to avoid splitting the community. Do not do this. The call for WoW Classic back in and was immensely powerful. Blizzard lost roughly three million subscribers in one quarter in , with many moving to Classic private servers, forcing Blizzard to open conversations with a private server developer.
Even with the game out and supported officially by Blizzard, some players will not want to move on. Forcing them to play TBC may not be the best move. While nothing is supporting this solution, perhaps there will be new Classic realms launching for players that want a fresh Vanilla experience? The reality of the situation is that Blizzard needs to be careful with the Classic player base departing. Private server developers can get access to more accurate Blizz-like values now that Blizzard restored the old game.
Another player exodus to private servers is something Blizzard does not want. Perhaps Blizzard will have more information on all of this when BlizzCon begins in February With the benefit of hindsight, the Naxxrammas release date seems to be correct. The only thing that could throw this away is the delay of WoW Shadowlands.
