The aforementioned cancellation fees will not be charged by SeyVillas in any case even if the Federal Foreign Office has issued a travel warning or an absolute travel ban for German citizens.
Certified Seychelles Experts. Travel Guide Content. Where is the Seychelles? Geographical location of the Seychelles. Located on the equator, the Seychelles is closer to Madagascar than to the African or Indian continents. The Seychelles is divided into two large groups : the inner islands and the outer islands. The more remote outer islands include the Amirantes Islands, the Farquhar group and the Aldabra group. Covered in tropical vegetation, their mountain landscapes are perfect for hiking and are filled with terns, vasa parrots and turtles.
The Seychelles is home to several national parks and nature reserves. The capital Victoria is at the heart of the Seychelles.
Sailors came to dock to stock up on supplies of water, wood and tropical fruit. Pirates have also haunted the islands. The leaves of these coconut trees shelter several rare plants and many birds.
You can get there by bike or oxcart, because there are no cars in La Digue. We are planing to go there for a three weeks or even a month. Maybe you know is it worth to go for more inner islands like bird Island, Felicite, Fregate and so on? Maybe things to do in those islands is the same like in your mentioned 8 islands here?
For example I see that tortoises I can see in many islands, diving kayaking, fishing also. So there is no need to pay for expensive accommodation and flight to other islands to do those things. And indeed, the more islands you go to, the more expensive it gets. Not just transportation, but also very expensive accommodation on the private islands, etc.
And yes, many islands are similar to the others. But it does look a bit like La Digue, which will be much much cheaper to visit and to get to. On the other hand, it's much more exclusive and so you won't have many other people, whereas La Digue is very popular and quite busy. If you have the money, I think I would definitely go there for a few days at least. Fregate and Bird Island look amazing as well, but so many other islands do too I really don't know what to say.
Often, it's nice to stay somewhere for a few days and actually appreciate everything that the place has to offer instead of hop from one island to another and spend half of your time in transit If you are looking to spend more time in Seychelles without spending more money, then you'll have to go to the bigger islands where there is more choice of accommodation for all budgets. I think Praslin is a good option as it's close to many other places, also La Digue.
You can then take day trips to some of the islands that we mentioned in the article, but also just spend a few quiet days enjoying the beach and all the activities on the islands.
Sorry, I can't help more. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be a trip that was worth the wait! Hello from Spain! Not sure if this blog is still live but great reading on the Seychelles. We're looking at holding our wedding there - just a small family wedding on a beach. We don't want to stay on a big resort if possible - any advice on the best island? My 4 year old grandson will be with us and we want to snorkel, kayak and sail! Any advice welcome Thank you!
Hi Mogsy, yes, this blog is still very much alive, which you could see by checking our newest articles : As for Seychelles, I don't have any experience with places for a wedding, so I can't really help you there. I believe that there are plenty of hotels that can arrange that, but you'd have to do some more research yourself. A lot will also depend on your budget.
The nicest smaller island that's easy to get to and therefore more affordable is La Digue. Check out Le Nautique Waterfront Hotel. I think it's perfect for what you are looking for, also because the island is really beautiful, with some nice spots to explore. There are many smaller islands in Seychelles with much more exclusive luxury resorts, so if your budget allows it and you want something more exclusive, try to search for those.
From what I see, September generally gets a bit less rain than October, but both months are quite comparable and are both also among the drier months of the year. Hope this helps. Good luck with your search and congratulations! Glad you found this useful, Primoz. And yes, I think Seychelles is a wonderful destination to visit with kids. Enjoy it! Dear Jurga Thank you for sharing your travel experiences, which I follow regularly.
This time I focus on the Seychelles story. The Secretariat helped Seychelles strengthen school councils and build skills to improve state school management. The Secretariat hired a consultant to help Seychelles collect data to measure the economic cost of violence against women and girls VAWG.
It developed a tool to measure this cost with Seychelles as the first case study. In , the Secretariat gave Seychelles advice on World Trade Organization reform and disputes, trade negotiations and emerging trade issues. In , the Secretariat sent an expert to Seychelles to advise on using its ocean resources sustainably. It is also helping Seychelles to share knowledge on sustainable energy with other member states.
In , the island nation set aside 30 per cent of its marine territory, or about , square kilometres, to be legally protected from activities that damage the marine environment.
